Wood Floor Restoration Process

First of all you will need to remove all furnishings from the room. You will then need to make sure that the whole floor is solid and there is no movement. If there is a damaged board or block then this will need to be repaired before any floor sanding takes place. Now you can start the wood floor restoration process. Begin floor sanding the floor at a 45 degree angle and with a 40 grit floor sanding belt to the wood grain to level the floor. Next you should should change the floor sanding belt to a 60 grit and begin floor sanding again with the wood grain in order to begin smoothing the wood flooring and removing any scratches left from the previous belt. Next change the floor sanding belt again to a 100 grit and begin floor sanding with the wood grain to smooth the wood floor and remove any scratches. You will also need to use a edger and corner floor sanders with the same grit disk as the belts that was used in the previous steps. This is the floor sanding part completed of the wood floor restoration.

It is now time to start finishing the the floor with a buffer or a rotary sander. You should now buff the wood floor with a 100, 120 and 150 grit sand screen disk to make the floor smooth, removing all of the scratches left from the belt sander. Now its time to remove all of the dust from the floor with a high powered vacuum and beging the sealing or oiling. Now you can choose to apply 2 - 3 coats of your desired finish and your wood floor restoration is complete.
